Why do I need an attorney?

You should hire an attorney today to protect your rights! All insurance companies want to protect their client. They will try to delay or minimize any claim you may have by assuming you do not know your individual rights. At the Law Office of Richard Mather, we will make sure you are not taken advantage of by the insurance company. We specialize in cases just like yours and we are able to negotiate on your behalf to get you the compensation you deserve. Call our office now to make an appointment. Waiting any longer may hurt your case.

Why should I choose The Law Office of Richard Mather?

The Law Office of Richard Mather has the knowledge to win your case. With over 17 years experience in litigating personal injury cases,  Richard Mather is a tough no nonsense attorney that does what it takes to help you get the compensation you need.

Should I see a doctor?

If you are in pain or have a medical issue you should see a doctor immediately! Your health and well-being should be a top priority. If you do see a doctor before your appointment please bring a copy of your medical records, diagnosis and bills. You may be entitled to compensation based on your injuries.

I was hurt in the accident, but I don’t have medical insurance. What do I do?

Richard Mather has represented clients hurt in car accidents for over 17 years. Once you hire us, we can direct you to doctors and clinics that will treat you for your injuries with little or no up front payment until your case settles. You get the treatment you need and the protection you need.

How much will this cost me?

Absolutely FREE. We have a “No Fee Assurance” at The Law Firm of Richard Mather. This means we do not charge ANY fee unless we WIN your injury case.

If I talk to you, am I obligated to retain you?

You are under no obligation at all! We encourage you to come in and speak with an experienced attorney today, for FREE. We will help you determine if you have a case and what your next step should be. Any information you provide is protected under attorney-client privilege. We will not sell your name, phone number or address.

How much money have you recovered?

The amount of money recovered depends on the case. We have helped our clients recover hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Who is going to be responsible for the monetary damages to me and my car?
The insurance company of the person responsible for the wreck. If you are involved in an accident that is not your fault, the other person’s insurance is responsible. If you are at fault, your insurance company will be responsible for any damages.

What if someone sues me?

If you are notified that someone is suing you because of an accident, notify your insurance company as soon as possible. The insurance company is responsible for handling any claims against you including lawsuits.

Is there a minimum or maximum amount that can be recovered in a personal injury settlement?

No. The amount recovered will depend on the amount of damage to your vehicle, your medical bills and wages lost. If the other person who caused the wreck has insurance, then you would most likely be limited to the amount of their insurance policy.

Can the insurance company refuse to pay my medical bills if my car was not damaged?

Only if they believe that the wreck was your fault. If you have automobile insurance with medical coverage, then you will be protected if there is an accident. It is possible to have no damage to your vehicle but have a strained neck or back. It is also possible to roll a vehicle and walk away without a scratch.

Will I have to go to trial to recover damages?

Not always. Most cases can be settled before going through a long tedious trial. The Law Firm of Richard Mather does not take settlements to avoid court, but when an insurance company refuses to even attempt to pay what is fair we are more than ready to fight for our clients in court and ensure you get the highest compensation possible.

If the accident report states I was at fault, does that mean I do not have a case?

This will depend on exactly what happened. Remember, the accident report is just the officer’s opinion of what happened and not necessarily the truth of what happened. In Alabama you are not able to receive some compensation if you are even partially at fault. Insurance companies will often deny a claim if you are listed at fault.  The best way to determine if you are eligible for compensation is to schedule an appointment with our office today!

What documents should I bring with me when I meet with a lawyer?

As with any claim, our Law Office will need certain pieces of information. We will require contact information, a picture ID or driver’s license. Please bring as much information about your incident as possible. Any photographs of your vehicle and the scene of the accident will be very helpful.  Include any medical records such as reports from the physician and medical bills. A list of witnesses with address and phone numbers will assist in proving who was at fault. Make copies of any document you bring so that our office may keep records. If you think it is important, it probably is, we want to see it.

What will happen at the free consultation?

The attorney will help you determine if you have a case and how you should proceed. Evidence will be discussed and you will explain in your own words what happened. The Law Office of Richard Mather wants to hear what you have to say. There is no time limit on your meeting. If it is determined that you have a case, a contingency fee agreement will be signed at this time.

What happens next?

Our office will contact the insurance company of the other party. We will notify them of the fact you are now represented by an attorney. All correspondence should be directed to our office. If you receive any phone calls from the insurance company, give them our name and number. Do not speak with anyone that is representing the insurance company. That is what you have us for. We are here to protect your rights and make sure you are not taken advantage of.

Should I talk to the insurance company of the other person?

We recommend only providing the insurance company with your contact information until you speak with or retain our office. Providing the insurance company with a statement may hurt your case and affect your compensation claim.

What if an insurance company offers me a settlement?

If you are offered a settlement without representation, you will most likely receive less compensation than with an attorney. Insurance companies are looking out for their best interest, not yours. They will want to settle the case as quickly and as cheap as possible.

How soon can we start with my case?

You can meet with a lawyer as soon as possible. Once you have met with Mr. Mather, your case begins immediately. Our knowledgeable staff goes to work by notifying the insurance company of your claim, collecting the accident report, locating any witnesses and preparing your case while you are receiving treatment from your doctor. As soon as you have finished your treatment, we start negotiating for your best award.

Are you available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week?

Yes. I can be reached 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. If appropriate, you can contact me at any time. I am ready, willing, and able to discuss a claim with you 24/7. The free case evaluation form and email is monitored around the clock.

Does Richard Mather handle other types of cases in addition to personal injury?

Yes. The Law Office of Richard Mather handles other cases such as child support or adoption. In the event our office is unable to help you we will refer to a competent attorney that can.
